Sweet Are The Uses Of Adversity

You often hear that sweet are the uses of adversity. But how ? This is the first thing that comes to your mind. How any misfortune might be a blessing in disguise?

Then you need to understand that it's depends on the way you look at that bad situation and go through that. Any thing bad that happens to you teach you something, give you some invaluable lessons that might be life changing for you . Problems in life make you stronger, give you a competitive edge , they turn you into a person you was never before.

In the face of any challenge , you have the two choices, either to face them or get bogged down. You must make an effort to overcome difficulties to improve in every aspect of life. You must progress or retrogress. You always have the choice to move ahead or stay stuck in the face of difficulties.

The enormous the difficulty, and more intense the effort required to overcome it, the more will be your gain in strength and reward.

Our difficulties are the signposts pointing the way to the road of success

In As You Like It, Shakespeare narrates the story of a ruler who has been deprived of his duchy and compelled to live in exile in the forest of Arden with faithful followers. He used to say that his misfortunes have driven him into closer contact with nature in both her stern and gentle moods.

He felt fortunate to be able to listen to 'sermons in stones 'and tongues in trees' He gained wisdom by the 'running brooks' which the scholars find only in books. His misfortunes were enormous, but he has earned a sweet reward by his mature understanding of life and communion with nature.

The struggle against misfortune builds the character

It gives us the courage and enthusiasm to fight against odds. Smooth sailing would make life altogether humdrum and insipid. All the essence of adventure would go out of it. Every difficulty overcome, every victory won, increases our strength for the next struggle.

There is no example of success without striving against and enduring insurmountable difficulties. If we study the lives of great men of thought and action, this statement stands valid.

They climb the ladder by their untiring efforts to achieve a great purpose and ideals that inspired their lives.

The life of Robert Louis Stevenson is a tremendous example of strength and courage. He put up a brave fight against a sickly Constitution and vulnerable lungs and emerged as a unique force in the realm of ingenious literature.

Bottom Line

The fruit of adversity is sweet. It might take a long time to ripen. But it will surely come, provided you prove yourself fit to partake it.
